News Brief: Brown alum to chair U. research services

The University has tapped Pamela Caudill to be the next executive director of the Office of Research Service, Penn officials announced earlier this week.

Under her new post, Caudill will manage a wide range of proposals and final reports relating to various administrative research projects.

Some of these projects will deal with accounting, research administration and financial policies.

And Caudill's services, it seems, are much needed at Penn, which prides itself on being a research-intensive university.

"As a university, which last year received more than $750 million in sponsored research awards, it is critical to have an accomplished administrator leading our team," Steven Fluharty, vice provost for research, said in a press statement.

Fluharty, who called Caudill's job "the most important" one at Penn, added that Caudill will help the University "ensure compliance with policies and federal regulations in support of Penn's research community."

Since 2001, Caudill, a Brown University alumna, has served as the director of pre-award non-financial administration in the Office of Research Services. She additionally has extensive experience as a research administrator managing programs in academic and health care settings.
