Crime Log

Theft

- March 29 -- A University employee reported that his MacIntosh laptop and battery charger were stolen at around 7:10 p.m. from the Laboratory for Research on the Structure of Matter, located at 3231 Walnut St.

- March 29 -- An man reported that an iPod and digital camera, valued at about $650, were taken from the backseat of his car parked on the 3900 block of Baltimore Avenue. The rear passenger window had been broken.

- Mar. 26 --A man reported his rear passenger window was broken and a guitar, speakers, black case and other music equipment were stolen from his car, parked on the 3900 block of Pine Street. The items are worth about $2,500.

- Mar. 25 -- A Radioshack employee reported that a stereo, valued at about $80, was taken from the store, located at 212 S. 40th St., at about 2 p.m. Surveillance video showed that the offender is a black man in his late 20s or early 30s, six feet tall, 180 to 200 pounds, with a a medium complexion and facial hair. He was wearing a black puffy jacket and blue jeans.

Bicycle Theft

- Mar. 27 -- A student reported that her bicycle, which was secured to a pole on the 3400 block of Walnut Street, was stolen after the cable lock was cut sometime between 5:40 and 8:30 p.m. The bike is a bright green Schwinn worth about $150.

Burglary

- Mar. 28 -- A student reported that a laser printer, blue Jansport backpack, clothing and a checkbook -- with a total value of $200 -- were taken from his apartment, located at 4054 Spruce St, sometime between 2:40 and 6:40 p.m. The student may have left his door open, and no forced entry was in evidence.

Assault

- Mar. 24 -- A man unaffiliated with the University reported that he was attacked with a beer bottle on the 3900 block of Chestnut Street. Police arrested Jamin Patel, 23, of the 3100 block of John F. Kennedy Boulevard and charged him with assault.
