City Council officials agree on crucial issues
City Council officials approved six resolutions yesterday, effectively ending years of debate with swift, concise action.
Effective next month, mayoral candidates will have to abide by a campaign finance law, and smoking will be banned in all city establishments.
"We just kept looking at all those other cities, and we realized, 'Wow, we're really ineffective,'" City Councilman Michael Nutter said.

Quaker mascot talked down from City Hall
The new Quakers mascot attempted to throw himself off of City Hall last night, according to police officials.
Friends say the Quaker Shaker, as he is frequently called, had been upset about his new uniform.
