Penn Division of Public Safety officials have issued a crime alert following a series of robberies and abductions earlier this week near the Penn patrol area.
No Penn students were involved in the incidents, but DPS officials are advising extra precautions.
On Tuesday, three men armed with a handgun forced two people into a vehicle at about 10:20 p.m. on the 5900 block of City Line Avenue. The assailants drove the victims to ATM machines and banks, where they withdrew money and handed it over before being released.
On Monday, a man reported that he was approached by two men armed with a semi-automatic handgun in the 5700 block of Overbrook Avenue at 11:30 p.m. He was ushered into a vehicle, taken to a bank and forced to withdraw $700. He was then dropped off in the area of 41st and Spring Garden streets.
On Sunday, three men approached a man on the 4700 block of Hazel Avenue at about 9:30 a.m. and demanded his car keys and cell phone. After forcing the man into a gray or metallic blue Lexus, they demanded his ATM card pin number and withdrew $140.
