An off-duty AlliedBarton security guard was nearly robbed March 3 as he was walking to work, police say.
The guard was near the intersection of 34th and Ludlow streets at about 11:45 p.m. when three men tugged on his backpack from behind and threatened him with a glass bottle, Division of Public Safety officials said.
The men didn't take anything from him, but police have arrested three men and charged them with robbery and related offenses.
The victim alerted an on-duty security guard, who immediately contacted Penn Police.
The police arrived on the scene shortly afterwards and arrested Angel Roman, 18, of the 700 block of Landis Street, Jose Morales, 18, of the 2400 block of Amber Street and a 13-year-old boy.
In an unrelated incident, a Penn alumnus was assaulted March 5 at about 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of 34th and Walnut streets.
The man, 29, was sitting in his car when another man approached the vehicle in an apparent incident of road rage, DPS officials said.
The victim got out of his car and was allegedly punched in the face by Joseph Hall, 25, of the 4500 block of Westminster Avenue.
Philadelphia Police arrived on the scene and arrested Hall. He is charged with aggravated assault.
