Tennessee-based trio Scratch Track will open this year's Spring Fling concert on April 7, Social Planning and Events Committee Concerts officials announced yesterday.
Calling the band "experimental," SPEC Concerts co-Director and Wharton and Engineering senior Matt Mizrahi said that the band's hip-hop and soul influence would complement rock headliner Of A Revolution at the Wynn Commons show.
"The name isn't huge and we realize that," Mizrahi said. "It's definitely something you don't hear very often. It's fun."
Scratch Track is opening for O.A.R. on several of the band's spring tour dates, many of which are at colleges and universities along the East Coast.
Because Scratch Track was already planning to tour with O.A.R., Mizrahi said that SPEC Concerts did not specifically choose the opening act but decided on the two bands together.
Tickets for the concert go on sale Monday, and PennCard holders will be able to purchase a $20 ticket on Locust Walk for the following week. After March 27, the tickets will cost $25 and will be $30 on the day of the concert.
