The Daily Pennsylvanian

Q&A; with Sallie Krawcheck

The Daily Pennsylvanian had a chance to speak with Sallie Krawcheck, CFO of Citigroup Inc.

Daily Pennsylvanian: What's it like working in a male-dominated environment?

Sallie Krawcheck: [Laughs] I don't think about it anymore because I've done it for so long. ... I find that a male-dominated environment is pretty straightforward. We have our fights, we finish the fights and we move on.

DP: What was the driving force that got you where you are today?

SK: I'm actually pretty insecure. I think a lot of businesspeople are insecure. ... You worry and you worry -- just enough, not too much -- about getting the job done properly.

DP: What's your favorite part of your job?

SK: Part of my responsibility is to work with the businesses, heading strategy. ... There's nothing more fun.

DP: Do you have any outside hobbies?

SK: No. I think that there's a perception that working people can have it all. ...I have two children, I love to cook, but I do not exercise. I do not, after work, kick off my heels and go out and get drinks with friends.

I think to do some of these jobs people have to make choices, and I think a lot of times the media doesn't give the message that these are very difficult choices. So the important message that I'm going to give to the women tonight: You have to love what you do ... and I love my job, so I don't regret it, I don't feel that I'm missing anything. I love what I do.
