In the women's college eights, the Quakers finished fourth, 41 seconds behind Navy, which took the 12-team event, holding off Rutgers and Army.

Former Penn player Jordan cut from team

Former Penn basketball player Michael Jordan was released from his German professional team this past weekend.

A statement on the Artland Dragons' Web site said that Jordan was cut due to an unspecified incident after practice last Wednesday.

Jordan, who had played with the Dragons since the 2002-03 season, released a statement on the Web site shortly after his release was announced.

"A decision was made and we all have to live with it and move on," he said. "I have no bad feelings towards the team or management. Everything happens for a reason. Maybe this is for the best."
