Nan serves amazing food in highly romantic atmosphere

Hidden behind an understated exterior, Nan is the perfect place to take your parents or significant other for an exquisite meal.

The dim mood lighting, soft music, high ceilings, warm pastel colors and flowers on every table create the perfect atmosphere for an elegant evening.

Located just on the outskirts of campus, Nan is perfect for dates.

The presentation is sophisticated and the food is delicious.

Nan presents a fusion of French and Thai cuisine. It bills itself as, "Great traditions from the East and West, blended in updated, exquisite flavors without fads." It definitely fulfills its promise.

You can find Thai favorites like Pad Thai and Thai iced tea along with French classics like made- to-order escargot with duxelle mushrooms in a puff pastry.

Appetizers include a simple and deliciously spiced chicken lemongrass soup and crab cakes. Many salads are available such as mixed greens, goat cheese,Thai cabbage and a cooked squid salad flavored with mint and lime dressing. Both types of starters range in price from $5.95 to $7.95.

The menu is well-rounded, satisfying the tastes of conservative eaters as well as those more adventurous in their food choices.

Entrees feature various meats such as pork, duck, chicken and lamb. Nan offers a wonderful salmon filet in red curry spices with a lemongrass crust and jasmine rice on the side. Prices for entrees range from $16.95 to $24.95.

Nan has various specials, including an amazing filet mignon in a rich, deep red wine sauce with peppercorn stock and a touch of sweetness that melts in your mouth.

The dessert menu at Nan is sweet and simple. They have the basics such as ice cream, warm apple puff, peach or lemon tart and warm chocolate cake. Nan also offers a scrumptious creme brulee and a unique ginger ice cream. One should also note that all desserts are made on the premises.

The waitstaff is incredibly friendly and personable at this comfortable and classy BYOB. Very knowledgeable about the menu, the waiters are always willing to suggest what may suit your particular tastes. The chef is very good and very consistent, with years of experience under his belt.
