Lakers waive Quakers graduate Archibong
The Los Angeles Lakers waived forward Koko Archibong Tuesday afternoon.
The Pasadena, Calif., native graduated from Penn last year, after earning three Ivy League titles during his time in West Philadelphia.
Also released with Archibong was Louisiana State graduate Maurice Carter.
The move by the Lakers cuts their preseason roster down to 18.
Archibong managed two points and two rebounds in 15 minutes of preseason action for Los Angeles. He was signed by the Lakers as an undrafted free agent.
Archibong finished the 2002-03 season for the Quakers averaging 10.8 points per game while shooting 48.3 percent from the field.
He was third on the team in scoring behind Ivy League Player of the Year Ugonna Onyekwe and current senior Jeff Schiffner, who led the nation from behind the arc, making 49.3 percent of his three-pointers.
