Mosher Library system staff say his computer was confiscated

Vice Provost and Director of Libraries Paul Mosher is on administrative leave pending a police investigation, according to University spokeswoman Lori Doyle.

"We are aware that a police investigation is under way, and Mr. Mosher is on administrative leave until things get sorted out," Doyle said last night.

Though at home late yesterday evening, Mosher would not comment.

A number of library system staff members said that Mosher's computer had been confiscated on Friday.

Many library system administrators, including Van Pelt Director of Administrative Services John Keane and Acting Director of Collection Development and Management Carton Rogers, would not comment on the investigation.

A University official said that the investigation was being conducted by the Philadelphia Police Department.

The PPD Southwest Detective Division, however, does not release case information without the name of the investigating detective.

Mosher has worked at Penn since 1988. He served as deputy director of the Stanford University Library before accepting his current position.

Penn Police were unavailable for comment last night.
