Crime Report

Domestic Assault

Jan. 13 -- A female University employee reported that her husband hit her inside the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia around 8:00 p.m. The complainant suffered cuts around her right eye and inside her mouth. The perpetrator fled the scene and has not been apprehended.

Burglary

Jan. 12 -- Two male University students reported burglaries in their apartments at 4000 Pine Street. Both students reported that their doors had been kicked in. One student reported that his $350 digital camera was stolen and the other reported that $30 and his social security card were stolen.

Auto Theft

Jan. 14 -- A male not affiliated with the University reported the theft of a 1996 Chevrolet SUV from the 4100 block of Locust Street around 8:00 p.m. The car was worth an estimated $10,000. Jan. 12 -- A female complainant reported that her 1994 green and white GMC Safari was stolen from the 3300 block of Convention Avenue between Jan. 11 and Jan. 12. Jan. 12 -- A female complainant reported that a Sony walkman and a radar detector had been stolen from her 1994 Honda parked in Lot #37 at 3337 Chestnut Street. The estimated worth of the stolen property is $450. Jan. 12 -- A complainant not affiliated with the University reported the theft of 200 CDs from her 1997 Saturn. The car had been secured on the 200 block of South 40th Street, and the perpetrator had broken the driver's side window in order to gain access to the CDs. Charles James, a 45-year-old black male, was arrested in connection with the incident.

Theft

Jan. 13 -- A female student reported that $1,850 in travelers checks and $1,150 in cash had been stolen from her Quadrangle dorm room sometime between Jan. 11 and Jan. 13. Jan. 13 -- A female Asian student was arrested for stealing $550 worth of books from the Penn Bookstore at 3601 Walnut Street around 6:13 p.m.
