U. Police to auction offU. Police to auction offrecovered bikes Saturday If so, University Police may have the solution at their annual bicycle auction Saturday. More than 30 bicycles and bike parts will be up for sale at the event, which will take place in front of High Rise North. Students can inspect the bikes beginning at 9:30 a.m., with the auction itself scheduled to start at 10 a.m. In addition, the Special Services Unit will register bikes and sell locks to students -- regardless of whether or not they buy a bike at the auction. The bikes and bike parts come from bicycles recovered by Penn police in the past year which have not been claimed by their owners. Bidding starts at approximately $20 for quality bikes, and the auction raises more than $1,000 each year. All proceeds go to the University. University Police will only accept cash or checks with identification, and they stress that bike returns are not allowed. -- Ian Rosenblum
