Suspects in auto thefts 'jumps' to freedom University Police Detective John Peterson explained that police were unable to catch the suspect, who fled from the scene and was apparently not injured in the jump from the garage at 38th and Spruce streets. University Police had responded to a report of a suspicious person in the parking garage at approximately 8:40 a.m. Friday, and witnessed a male carrying a car radio jump over a car and out the garage's second floor, Peterson said. Police described the suspect as a brown-haired white male wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. University Police discovered five cars on the second floor with broken windows, Peterson said. As of yesterday afternoon, three of the incidents had been reported to University Police. -- Scott Lanman
