The Daily Pennsylvanian

Design Editor: Ginny Bloom

Her mother said the team was mostly supportive, but long-time friend Laura Zimmerman remembers things differently. "She would take her shirt to wipe her face, and she has a sports bra underneath," Zimmerman explained. "The guys thought she was indecent." Keep in mind, these are Kansan guys we're talking about here. In addition to her antics on the soccer field, Bloom would also let loose at the occasional field party. According to Zimmerman, the townspeople like to throw bonfire parties on their farms, although she swore there was absolutely no cow-tipping involved. At one such shindig, Bloom must have been admiring those red-necked hunks, because she walked right into a glass sliding door, gashing her forehead. After that, a sign was posted on the door, advising the other partygoers not to mimic her behavior. And as if that wasn't enough excitement, Bloom spent the summer before her senior year at "Nerd Camp" at Pittsburg State University in Kansas -- where the big thrill was going to Walmart on weekends. Apparently, she captured the fancy of fellow Nerd Camper Andy, and was persuaded to accompany him to the big Holly Ball that winter. There, the rebellious chap taught her the Macarena, which is currently illegal in Kansas. Her Penn friends cannot believe how "too-perfect" and "all-American" Bloom is. Be warned, though: roommate Shireen Santosham and hallmate Ian Rosenblum claim to have corrupted the innocent farmgirl. She allegedly drinks and cusses now -- two things she never did back in Kansas. We just pray she doesn't pass these filthy habits along to the rest of the Design Department. -- Amy Lipman
