Graduation Day

The Daily Pennsylvanian welcomes parents and alumni for the University's 240th commencement. Beginning at 9:15 a.m., there will be a procession from Superblock to Franklin Field for all graduating seniors. Graduating students are asked to assemble in Superblock by 8:45 a.m. Promptly at 10:15 a.m., the ceremony will begin. The featured speaker will be Tom Brokaw, anchor and managing editor of NBC Nightly News. Brokaw and seven others will receive honorary degrees. Individual schools will also hold celebrations Monday for graduates. All graduates, except for those in the College of Arts and Sciences, will receive their diplomas at their school's ceremonies. College seniors will receive their diplomas in the mail over the summer. Eight senior awards will be given out Saturday at Ivy Day. The presentation will be held at 4 p.m. in Irvine Auditorium. After the ceremony, seniors will unveil their Ivy Stone. -Jaclyn LaPlaca
