$15,000 of equipment stolen from Medical Center He explained that in the first incident, which occurred between 9 a.m. on March 13 and 7 p.m. on the 15th, a staffer discovered that an analytic balance and microscope valued at $5,200 had been stolen from an secured room. In the second incident, a staffer discovered that computers and various other electronic equipment had been stolen from an unsecured room. The merchandise was valued at approximately $9,500. Richardson added that the incident is being investigated by detectives from both the University and Philadelphia Police departments. – Yochi Dreazen Police arrest rape suspect The Philadelphia Police department has made an arrest of a suspect in a recent rape at 43rd and Spruce streets, according to a police spokesperson. The male suspect, identified as 35-year-old Norman Nesmith, a West Philadelphia resident, was arrested one day after the incident, which occurred at 2:30 p.m. on March 10. The spokesperson added that the victim, identified only as a 39-year-old black female, knew Nesmith. Neither Nesmith nor the victim are affiliated with the University. – Yochi Dreazen
