Antoine Saunders and triggerman Ollie "Homicide" Taylor, both younger than most University students, will serve life terms for their participation. Anthony Archer got 15 to 30 years, and Gregory Pennington 10 to 20. While Khaalis Edmonson will be out in three years because he was tried as a juvenile, the punishments handed out to the other men involved in this incident reflect the horrible nature of their crime. The murder deeply affected not only Alimohamed's family and that of his girlfriend, Rebecca Rosin -- who committed suicide in December --but also chilled, shocked and frightened all of us who go home each night to houses and apartments on the perimeter of campus. The resolution of this case by Common Pleas Court Judge James Fitzgerald won't bring Alimohamed or Rosin back to the University, to their families or to the broader world to make contributions in their chosen fields. But maybe, just maybe, the next gang of neighborhood kids who get bored on a hot summer night will think twice before they go out with a gun, searching for a student to hold up for fun.
