· The Robert Sibley Award for best alumni magazine of the year, awarded by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and Newsweek. · Five other awards awarded by CASE: 1. A gold medal in the University Magazines category. 2. A silver medal for the cover caricature of Kathleen Hall Jamieson, dean of the Annenberg School for Communication, illustrated by Robert Grossman. 3. A bronze medal for the design by Dwayne Flinchum, art director of the Gazette, of the opening spread for an essay written by Wendy Steiner on the exhibit of Andres Serrano's photography. 4. Two medals in the category of Best Article of the Year: 5. A gold medal for "Merry Kwanzaa" written by David Bradley, a professor at Temple University; and a bronze medal for "The Compassionate Judge" written by Meg Egan, former assistant editor of the Gazette. · 1995 Outstanding Article Award from the American Society of Journalists and Authors for a first-person essay entitled "Marathon Woman" by free-lance writer Sally Wendkos Olds. · 1995 Regional Design Annual Award from Print magazine for a design by Dwayne Flinchum featuring the illustrations by James Yang of "Pacific Overtures."
