IN BRIEF: Gazette wins competition

"This is great news for those of us who work so hard to give our readers a fair and honest look at their alma mater," said Gazette Editor Anthony Lyle. The magazine also received awards in several other categories of the competition. Gazette won a gold medals for "University Magazine" and "Best Article of the Year"categories. The Gazette is published monthly and is distributed free of charge, to approximately 84,000 Penn Alumni. -- Betty Yuan University of Pennsylvania Law School Lecturer Morris Shuster,. has recently been named the Thomas A. O'Boyle Adjunct Professor of Law. Shuster was given the appointment by Law School Dean Colin Diver, who described the new appointee as an "intensely practical and extraordinarily thoughtful lawyer." "It is fitting that Morris Shuster, who embodies those qualities should join the line of distinguished Thomas A. O'Boyle Lecturers," Diver said. Shuster has been a member of the Law School Faculty since 1991 and teaches a course at the University called, "Trial Advocacy in an Informal Tribunal." -- Betty Yuan The University of Pennsylvania Health System recently announced the opening of the Grays Ferry Medical Practice located at Consolation Baptist Church. It will provide health services such as primary healthcare, women's health, health education, and nutritional counseling to residents who are undeserved in both Grays Ferry and Point Breeze neighborhoods, said Spokesperson Paula Yudenfriend. "It's like having a Penn practice right in your neighborhood," Yudenfriend said, "and free transportation is provided if needed." According to Yudenfriend, the grand opening will take place this Saturday, where free health screenings will be provided, along with copies of children's immunizations records as well. -- Betty Yuan
