We applaud the efforts of the students responsible for B-GLAD's organization and hope these measures have enlightened the ignorant and bigoted. We find it an absolute disgrace that anti-gay graffiti was found in the Quad Wednesday as the group designed to counter it was rallying on College Green. COLORS is a joint endeavor between Sigma Chi and Alpha Phi Alpha fraternities. Both groups are to be commended for their efforts, which have provided excellent opportunities to discuss issues of race. The groups have coordinated speakers, panels and forums to promote racial sensitivity on campus. We urge the entire community to applaud the students responsible for planning B-GLAD and COLORS. Their efforts have spread much needed awareness and appreciation of minority groups. Now, it is up to other students to follow their lead. Hopefully, someday people will be tolerant enough so that these awareness days will be unnecessary.
