Man tries to rob local bank The suspect gave the bank teller a note demanding money, but Rambo said the teller did not comply. The man then fled the bank and a Philadelphia and a University Police foot chase ensued. Rambo added the man was apprehended by University Police at 40th and Sansom streets shortly before 1 p.m. The suspect was then transferred to Southwest Detectives. -- Keith Huebsch U. official appointed to city board Ira Harkavy, director of the University of Pennsylvania community partnerships, was appointed to the community trust board of the city's three empowerment-zone neighborhoods yesterday. Philadelphia Mayor Ed Rendell appointed Harkavy as a representative from Philadelphia. As a board member, Harkavy will help decide how the $79 million from the empowerment zone should be spent. -- Josh Fineman Hungary ambassador to visit U. The Wharton Europe Club and Wharton Management Club will host a conference to discuss Corporate and Political Development in Eastern Europe on Saturday. Gysrgy Banlaki, Hungary's ambassador to the United States, will speak about the business development of Western companies in Hungary. The conference will be held on Feb. 18 from 10:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. in room 350 of Steinberg-Dietrich Hall. Tickets are $5 and will be on sale in Vance Hall and Steinberg-Dietrich. --Kara Blond
