No Franklin Field thefts

Franklin Field was not broken into last week on two consecutive days, as earlier suspected by University Police. "There were no break-ins within Franklin Field [last week]," Associate Athletic Director Denis Cochran-Fikes said yesterday. Rather, a University athletic department van, parked in the lot on 33rd Street between Franklin Field and the Palestra, was broken into Thursday afternoon, according to Cochran-Fikes. Six University athletic department shirts were stolen Cochran-Fikes said. University Police Sergeant Larry Salotti said last week a man connected with the theft was arrested by Police officers at 4:29 p.m. Thursday. According to University Police records, the man arrested was James Patrick. Salotti would neither confirm nor deny the identity of the suspect. University Police Sergeant Tom Rambo had said last week there was another theft at Franklin Field Wednesday night. Cochran-Fikes said one of Franklin Field's gates was left open. University Police noticed the open gate and checked Franklin Field to see if anything was missing, Cochran-Fikes said. Nothing was stolen, he added.
