An employee of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia was struck by a car at 34th and Spruce streets at about 3 p.m. yesterday, according to police at the scene. A witness, who would not identify himself, said the woman was running across the street when the 1983 Nissan Stanza hit her. University Police responded to the scene, and roped off the area. The woman was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, where she was listed in critical condition last night. --Gregory Montanaro
