PENJERDEL picked the University because of its "commitment to improving the economic vitality and quality of life of the region," Council President Collin McNeil said in a statement. University President Judith Rodin will accept the PENJERDEL award at a luncheon at the Wyndham Franklin Plaza Hotel today. The PENJERDEL Council has honored Delaware Valley companies and business leaders for the past 39 years. The Council is primarily concerned with regional issues including transportation, energy, water supply and maritime and defense industries. The Council will also honor Pete Musser, chairman and chief executive officer of Safeguard Scientifics, Inc., as its 1994 Citizen of the Year. Safeguard Scientifics is a billion-dollar technology management and venture capital company. -- Jeremy Kahn
