At the same time, the admissions office was able to attract the highest number of applicants ever -- 13,379. These two facts, taken in tandem, are a testament to the outstanding the admissions team have done. The Class of 1998 also features the highest percentage of women ever admitted, 49 percent, and has one of the highest minority populations in the Ivy League. This is a sign that we are moving towards a truly representative University, based on merit and achievement. For this we have nothing but praise for the admissions office. We do have one complaint however. Once again, nobody from North or South Dakota was admitted. We hope this crucial flaw will be corrected as soon as possible.
