University President-elect Judith Rodin, Barbie dolls and McDonald's may seem to have little in common, but they are all a part of Bloomers fun and entertaining new show, entitled You Tarzan- We Insane. Bloomers' new addition is a refreshing mix of comedy, music and singing. Many skits received applause and cheers from the audience including the endearing Guns-n-Roses tribute to Saladalley and Boccie, a mockery of the sorority rush process, and 'No Vacancy' -- a skit and tap dance routine focuses on the nightmares of finding off-campus living. This is not to say the show had no lulls. Some of the skits were more amusing than others and some of the writing was a little cliched, but the talented cast was still able to pull the show together. Talented College freshman Talia Gil added much life to the show. Whether she portrays the gossip at the mah-jongg table or the perky but annoying Kathie Lee Gifford, she kept the laughs coming. Also keep an eye out for the older veteran talent. College senior Alison Greenspan's rendition of Marilyn Monroe's "Happy Birthday" is a show stopper. One of the high notes of the show is the costume design. Erika Broslat did a terrific job of dressing the characters. She transformed Liz Rudnick into a convincing Hillary Clinton and was able to design a whole new recyclable clothing line. The music, although some times unusual, includes plenty of fun recognizable tunes and is a great complement to the voices of Bloomers. Take note of College senior Deb Fromer's original pieces of music written for the introduction and finale of the show. Bloomers sense of slapstick comedy and fun will keep you entertained for the entire two hours. You Tarzan- We Insane runs tonight and twice on Saturday in Houston Hall Auditorium. Tickets are on sale on Locust Walk and at the door.
