Penn interim men's soccer coach George O'Neill will shed the interim from his name, sources told the The Daily Pennsylvanian. O'Neill confirmed Sunday he has been offered the position as the Quaker full-time head coach. O'Neill was notified by Penn Senior Associate Athletic Director Caroline Schlie-Femovich by telephone Thursday. He has indicated that he will accept the offer, although a contract is not expected to be finalized until later this week. The search for a head coach had been in progress since the conclusion of the fall season. After nearly two months of delays while the Athletic Department sifted through the 90 applications, O'Neill was awarded the position. He was one of three finalists for the job. "I'm really excited and delighted about it," O'Neill said. "It definitely gives me a sense of relief that it's over and done with, and that the players know there will be some continuity for the team."
