South Asia Society to ring in New Year

"Divali celebrates the return of our Lord Rama from his banishment to the jungle," said College senior Raj Mehta, one of the coordinators of the event. "Upon his return, he was made the king of India. "This is always the South Asia Society's most lively and exciting celebration." There will be a prayer session and detailed description of Divali at 5:30 p.m. and a dinner at 6 p.m. in Houston Hall's Bodek Lounge. The dinner will cost $10. At 8:30 p.m., there will be a cultural show featuring dancing, singing and acting in the University Museum's Harrison Auditorium. Tickets are $3. The evening will end with a party at the Gulf Coast at 11:30 p.m. – By Jeremy Sears
