GAPSA to discuss harassment policy

The Graduate and Professional Student Assembly decided yesterday to hold a special meeting next week specifically to address Part II of the University's Racial Harassment Policy. No resolutions dealing with the policy were put forward at last night's meeting. But there was a motion whereby representatives informally voted on what type of resolution regarding Part II they thought would most likely get passed. The poll revealed a majority who felt Interim President Claire Fagin should keep Part II of the policy until a suitable replacement is approved. Khuly said Tuesday's special meeting has been tentatively set to begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Graduate Student Lounge. Khuly also announced to members that she would present University Council and the Safety and Security Committee with the views of graduate students who feel efforts to ensure their safety are inadequate. Members said the current status of the Escort Service and University Police patrols are unsafe and need to be reevaluated with graduate students in mind. – Stephen Sanford
