I am appalled at the outright hatred and intolerance that has been expressed over the picture that shows two men kissing at a Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian Days rally. The photo has been roundly criticized as a media blitz of the gay community, forcing "normal," heterosexual people to watch some twisted, unnatural act. Bullshit. In television shows, movies, magazine advertisements, news stories, billboards and even toothpaste commercials, we are bombarded with images of men and women holding hands, hugging each other, kissing or in bed together. And one picture of two men engaged in a closed-mouth kiss -- a kiss that looks very posed, I think -- is subjected all these people to some sort of sin? These letters are examples of homophobia disguised by moral or religious righteousness. The gay community is not asking for everyone to agree with them, or even to like them. They are asking for everyone to accept them for who they are, and to respect them. This is something that no one has seen fit to do. I would like to let the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual Association know that at least one person in the heterosexual community got the message. MATTHEW RICE Engineering '93
