The Obama Administration has pushed for a college ratings system and the Department of Education will unveil the outline for one on Friday.

The Department of Education will display the outline of its metrics, which the federal government will use to rate colleges. Obama announced in August 2013 that the federal government planned to rate colleges in order to tie federal aid to college performances.

Three of the important factors will be affordability, graduate earnings and graduation rate. The outline that will be released on Friday will present some of the metrics but will not mention specific colleges and will not say how institutions are performing under the metrics.

Read about the unveiling here and stay tuned for more on Friday.
