Even though Martin Luther King, Jr. Day has passed, the University continues to celebrate his life and work. The annual MLK Interfaith Program and Award Ceremony, which will take place this evening at 6 p.m. in Bodek Lounge in Houston Hall, is part of Penn's two-week-long "Commemorative Symposium on Social Change" designed to honor King.

A week ago, students sat down to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with their loved ones. But many of the people responsible for producing that meal have not been able to enjoy the company of their families for many years. The Coalition of Immokalee Workers - which seeks to improve conditions for a Florida farming community - last Friday gave a presentation in Irvine Auditorium that illustrated the plight of these laborers.

With the effects of climate change, the most sought-after resource in the future might not be oil, but water. Best-selling author and Anthropology professor at University of California, Santa Barbara Brian Fagan spoke last night at the Penn Museum, urging an audience to heed the warnings of past struggles with climate change and the dangers of drought.
