Addressing a crowd of 700 to 800 students and community members in the Annenberg Center's Zellerbach Theatre, Clarke, a former counterterrorism czar and 1972 Penn alumnus, spoke about ethical issues currently affecting the U.
The perennial debate between Trojans and Lifestyles came home to Penn last weekend. The Undergraduate Assembly pledged on Sunday to create a survey to "gauge current student sentiment regarding condoms and to determine the condom of choice" on campus. The University gives out free condoms - the Lifestyles brand - at multiple places around campus, from the high rise dorms to Student Health Services.
Disorderly Conduct Oct. 28 - Jason Ho - 22 and a 2006 Penn grad - was arrested for disorderly conduct at 40th and Pine Streets at about 11:50 p.m. Police say he was involved in a physical altercation with an unknown man on the street. Oct. 31 - Daniel Styles - who is 38 years old and unaffiliated with the University - was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after he allegedly acted in a threatening manner near a food truck on 34th Street at about 5:45 p.
If students taking "Introduction to American Politics" want to attend class today, they'll have to get in touch with professor John DiIulio. That's because DiIulio has assigned his students an extra credit project: Don't come to class, just get out the vote.
Lynn Swann, a political newcomer, is the Republican challenger to incumbent Gov. Ed Rendell. Swann is a graduate of the University of Southern California, where he was an All-American wide receiver. Ex-Wharton professor Scott Ward's arraignment date should be set by Saturday, according to the Clerk's Office at the U.S. District Court in Alexandria, Va. A judge had set Nov. 10 as the deadline. At the arraignment, Ward could be officially charged. Ward was arrested in August for allegedly importing child pornography.
