Last weekend, the Varsity Eight made an appearance at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, finishing an impressive 13th out of 37 boats. They’ll take part in both the Head of the Schuylkill and the Princeton Chase this weekend.

Field Hockey v. Yale 2011

A problem Penn often faces when it travels to play a team with an AstroTurf field is that it needs to practice on AstroTurf, the default playing surface in Division I field hockey. Unfortunately for the Quakers, Franklin Field is composed of Sprinturf.



Football v. Columbia 2011

Facing a dominant Brown team on the road, the Penn football team might be slapped with the ‘underdog’ tag in an Ivy League matchup for the first time since its 2009 title run. But don’t count the Quakers among those who see this pivotal game that way.

Every year, around 300 students at Penn are identified with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder by Student Disabilities Services. But Disability Services Director Susan Shapiro suspects many more students suffer from the mental disorder.

Starting Friday, students were no longer charged the $5 hourly fee to play recreational tennis at Penn Park’s outdoor Hamlin Tennis Courts. Following complaints from students, the Undergraduate Assembly worked with Penn Athletics and the Office of the President to remove the charges.

Wednesday, Assistant Sociology professor David Gibson spoke about tapes of John Kennedy in the first of three installments of the Lightbulb Café held at the Penn Museum. The series allows the community to ask questions of experts in an informal setting.
