Since 2011, nine out of a total of 12 patients have responded successfully to the treatment, for which June — the Director of the Translational Research Program and the Richard W. Vague Professor in Immunotherapy in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine — was awarded first place in Men’s Health magazine’s “2012 Heroes of Health and Fitness.”





Convergencias 2013 is the fifth annual collegiate conference that aims to address issues Mexico faces regarding national development. Dr. Eduardo Sojo, a Penn graduate, spoke at the conference. He is the former Chief Economic Advisor of Mexico and current president of the INEGI.

Convergencias 2013 — an annual conference organized this year by the student group Mex@Penn — brought together a host of Mexican academics, professionals and students to have a dialogue on Mexico’s current situation and place in history.

Starting Friday afternoon, Natives at Penn — a student organization representing American Indian, Native Hawaiian and Alaska Native students on campus — hosted the All-Ivy Native Conference, one of the two times of the year when the communities at all Ivy League universities get together.


	Tukufu Zuberi, Department of Sociology chair, directed the film “African Independence,” which won the Best Documentary Film Award at the 2013 San Diego Black Film Festival.

Professor Tukufu Zuberi received the Best Documentary Film Award and the Best Director Award at the 2013 San Diego Black Film Festival for his film, “African Independence,” a feature-length documentary on the African continent’s evolution since colonization.
