Junot Diaz addresses Latino culture

The Dominican author, whose most well-known work 'The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao' won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize, read an excerpt and answered questions in an event for Festival Latino.


Students, staff, community members, a reality show star and even an Oscar winner all participated in QPenn — a week-long campus celebration of LGBT culture held this past week.

At the 14th Annual Wharton India Economic Forum held Saturday at the Park Hyatt in Center City, India’s leading businessmen, politicians and film personalities discussed a wide variety of topics ranging from health care and performing arts to entrepreneurship in India.

A hearing for Fresh Grocer to discuss health inspection results will be held this Tuesday, March 30. Though an inspection at the store will occur prior to the hearing, its date will not be public.

Despite the remnants of a chilly winter, Friday night’s seventh-annual Relay for Life was successfully held on Franklin Field. The event started at 8 p.m. and went well into Saturday morning, symbolizing that cancer never sleeps.

At last week’s Second Annual Undergraduate Social Impact Conference, Iqbal Quadir said, “Things are changing,” in reference to world economies. But the conference showed that the methods and instruments of social impact are changing as well.



Greeks recognized for service, scholarship

Leaders in the Greek community gathered Thursday night at the Sheraton Hotel at 36th and Chestnut streets for the annual Greek Awards ceremony to recognize the contribution of chapters and individuals in the Greek community.


Students work to keep Fling safe

To help keep Spring Fling festivities under control, the Social Planning and Events Committee is recruiting 250 student volunteers for this year’s FlingSafe, a student-run program created five years ago encouraging safe decision-making among peers.







Winner announced for College T-shirt design

Members of the Dean’s Advisory Board collaborated with Business Services to create a student competition for the College T-shirt design, which will be sold at the Penn Bookstore. College sophomore Hasbrouck Miller was announced as the winner Tuesday.
