UA members voted to support efforts to increase financial aid for international students, follow up on the University’s Diversity Action Plan and change the Green Events Certification program.

College House Academic Programs is working to establish a system that will review faculty engagement in college houses through student surveys and polls.

Under the new system, students will form groups of one to four students and submit their applications together under the name of a group captain. They will select their rooms through a new online housing portal — My Home at Penn — set to launch on Dec. 5.

While many students in her grade decided to apply for early action programs at Harvard or Princeton universities, legacy applicant Julianna Quazi said going to Penn has been her goal since freshman year in high school.

Until Nov. 20, the Power Down Challenge, an effort by the Green Campus Partnership and student Eco-Reps, will encourage students to conserve energy. Students from the college houses will be challenged to reduce their house’s electrical energy consumption by at least 5 percent.

In early October, Penn’s School of Design received a $2.5 million gift from 1969 College graduate Katherine Sachs and 1967 Wharton graduate Keith Sachs to fund visual arts. The donation will create a visiting professorship and support fine arts programs throughout the University.
