College junior Alexandra Berger has a vision. Elected chairwoman of the Student Committee on Undergraduate Education on Sunday night, Berger's goals for the year include developing the group's relationship with the Center for Undergraduate Research and Fellowships and continuing SCUE's efforts to promote non-traditional learning and improve online tools like the Penn Course Review and Penn InTouch.

Two Drexel University students died in a car accident yesterday morning at 3:30 a.m. while headed south on Route 15 two miles south of Liberty, Pa., according to The Philadelphia Inquirer. No other cars were involved in the crash. The students, John Williamson Jr.

Planners of this year's RecycleMania run are using new techniques to encourage on-campus recycling - but they're recycling ideas from last year, too. Although last week marked the beginning of RecycleMania's second run at Penn, the competition won't formally begin until Thursday, when a kickoff event at Houston Hall will feature director of the Mayor's Office of Sustainability Mark Hughes speaking about ways Penn and Philadelphia can work together to improve environmentalist efforts.

Super Bowl XLIII may not be the only thing Penn students are wagering big bets on this week. A new Web site, Ultrinsic.com, allows students to enter a contest where earning an A in a course wins them money. The deadline for entrance is Wednesday. In a unique collaboration among universities, Penn and Arizona State University have entered into a three-year partnership to assist each other in commercializing the technologies developed by their researchers. According to a news release from ASU, the new relationship will allow the two universities to leverage each other's expertise in certain fields.

As Penn students receive bids to join fraternities and sororities this semester, they are joining a long-time staple of the University and one of the oldest Greek societies in the country. The 160-year fixture of student life has not always played as large a role on campus as it does now, with nearly 30 percent of students involved in Greek organizations.

Phi Gamma Delta is returning to Penn for the first time this century. The fraternity, also known as Fiji or Phi Gam, had been an establishment at Penn since 1881. Fiji fraternity members surrendered the Penn chapter in 1999 following a fatal accident in which an alumnus fell several stories at the fraternity house after he had been drinking heavily.

Wharton sophomore Steve Cymerman has more than just an academic incentive to earn good grades - he's getting paid for his A's, too. Cymerman is one of about 13,000 users of GradeFund, a Web site launched two months ago through which students can ask family, friends, corporations and even strangers to "sponsor" their grades at school.

Night Shyamalan movie, The Last Airbender. Shyamalan, a Philadelphia native, has directed a number of box-office hits, including The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable and The Happening.
