The second of the three students hospitalized last week with meningococcal infection was released yesterday, according to a Student Health Service update. One of the two students hospitalized over the weekend with flu-like symptoms was also released.That leaves only two students in the hopsital of the original five that were brought in - one infection case and one who had with flu-like symptoms.

Nothing jump-starts a season quite like a shot at revenge. The men's lacrosse team gets the opportunity to open its season on a high note tomorrow against Drexel, where local pride, retribution for last year's loss and season-opening momentum are all on the line.

Denis Kinane will become dean of the School of Dental Medicine beginning July 1, Penn President Amy Gutmann and interim Provost Vincent Price announced yesterday. "I'm very excited," Kinane said. "Penn's got a fantastic reputation, and I'm really looking forward to contributing.

The Penn women's basketball team and Dartmouth sophomore Brittney Smith are both moving in the right direction. Only three weeks after the Big Green (12-9, 7-0 Ivy) dominated the Quakers, 56-39, at the Palestra, Penn finds itself carrying the momentum of a season-high three-game winning streak into this weekend's road rematches with Dartmouth and Harvard (13-8, 5-2).

Penn is leading the way for research in nanotechnology. About 900 Penn-based innovations are listed on iBridge Network, an online forum to facilitate an exchange between researchers and companies looking to license new technology. Garrett Reisman has not only been to space - he may be the first astronaut to bring the familiar red and blue Penn pennant with him. Philadelphia Police is trying to determine whether a man arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting three students at Lock Haven University may also be responsible for the armed home invasion and sexual assault that occurred at Penn on Dec. 19. Dominique Wilson, 23, was arrested in Lock Haven, Pa.

College career services throughout the country are feeling the reverberations from the economic crisis that began last fall, leaving students with more confusion and less opportunity. According to The Chronicle of Higher Education, a recent National Association of Colleges and Employer survey of about 50 colleges and universities found that more than half of the schools reported an increase in traffic to their career services centers while only 20 percent reported a decrease.

If there was ever a time for the men's squash team to listen to coach Craig Thorpe-Clark, it would be now. "It's not how you start, it's how you finish" is one of his mottoes, and one that the Quakers hope to rally around this weekend at the national team championships.

Jeremy Lin has been devastating defenses since high school. In his senior year, he racked up a game-high 17 points in the California Division II state title game to propel his team to victory. Then he played in every game off the bench as a freshman at Harvard and reached double-digit scoring four times.
