Junior quarterback Karson Siqueiros-Lasky will take the helm at the line of scrimmage for Penn football this season.
Penn football coach Rick Santos made the announcement during Ivy League Football Media Day last month. The promotion to starting quarterback will be Siqueiros-Lasky’s first start with the Quakers.
“[He] does a phenomenal job being a facilitator, getting the ball out of his hands on time,” Santos said. “So [we’re] really proud with what we’ve seen out of him the last six or seven months.”
Siqueiros-Lasky said he “had no idea” he’d be the starting quarterback when the announcement was made, but this past spring he focused on “really putting [his] head down and working as hard as [he] could, and [that he] was just super excited when that news came out.”
He was the backup quarterback for 2026 Wharton graduate Liam O’Brien last season. He suited up for two games, completing 2-for-2 pass attempts, including a 10-yard pass in an October game against Brown.
“Going into this year, obviously, I don’t have a ton of experience, but I’m just looking to take it one game at a time,” Siqueiros-Lasky said. “And just take what the defense gives me, honestly, just really rely on my preparation, that’s something that the coaches harp a lot on.”
He was also named captain this season, along with senior defensive back Josh Narcisse, senior linebacker Cole Olsztyn, senior offensive lineman Luke Sacchetti, and junior offensive lineman Ryan Mitchell.
“I got named team captain in high school, so it was kind of a similar feeling, just on a bigger stage at this point,” he said.
Before coming to Penn, Siqueiros-Lasky led Seminole High School to the 2022 SSAC State Championship and won team offensive MVP in the 2023 season, while also participating in the track and field program.
Now, the Florida native is ready to lead Penn when the season starts on Sept. 19 against Bucknell.
“I just want to do everything that a great leader should do,” Siqueiros-Lasky said. “Just because if we want to be successful at the end of the day, you need great leaders on the team.”
