Singer and actress Bea Miller will open for rapper Flo Rida at this year’s annual Spring Fling concert.
Penn’s Social Planning and Events Committee announced Miller as the concert’s opener in an April 12 social media post. The concert will take place at Penn Park at 7:30 p.m. this Friday, April 17.
A request for comment was left with SPEC.
Miller rose to prominence after competing on the television show “The X Factor” and has since released several pop albums and EPs, with popular singles such as “feel something,” “Fire N Gold,” and “Like That.”
SPEC revealed Flo Rida as the headliner at a launch party in Houston Hall last month. The March 27 event featured a student DJ competition, where attendees voted for ShalaBeatz, a duo composed of Engineering sophomores Adam and Ali Shalabi, to perform at the Spring Fling concert. The twin brothers also performed at last year’s concert.
The organization also announced a “retro” theme for Spring Fling Daytime Festival, which will take place on Saturday after the concert.
Spring Fling is one of Penn’s largest annual events and typically draws thousands of attendees to Penn Park. Last year, rapper and singer Sexyy Red headlined the concert alongside singer and songwriter Jay Sean.
In 2024, the performance drew over 10,000 students to Penn Park, where some attendees reported safety concerns due to inadequate crowd control. Across 53 iterations of the event, SPEC has brought several performing artists to take center stage — including Metro Boomin, Chance the Rapper, Flo Milli, and Kesha.
Tickets are available to anyone aged 18 or older. Students belonging to the Penn First Plus community have the opportunity to receive subsidized tickets.
