A variety of campus resources will be available to Penn students who choose to remain on campus over winter break.
From dining halls to Residential Services, several essential facilities will remain open with adjusted hours. Student resources, such as Wellness at Penn and certain libraries, will also remain available over break.
All dining hall will be closed by Dec. 19 with staggered reopening schedules. 1920 Commons will reopen for limited brunch options on Jan. 5, 2026, while Hill House, Cafe at McClelland, and the Gourmet Grocer will open their doors again on Jan. 13, 2026. Lauder College House and Kings Court English College House dining halls will remain closed until the start of the spring semester on Jan. 14, 2026.
Pret a Manger at Huntsman Hall will be open from Jan. 5-9, 2026; closed from Jan. 10-11, 2026; and reopens on Jan. 12, 2026. The Starbucks at Commons will reopen on Jan. 13, 2026.
With regard to Residential Services, dorms will close on Dec. 19 and reopen Jan. 10, 2026. First-year and four-year houses, excluding Gutmann College House, will close at noon on Dec. 19.
Gutmann, Harnwell, Harrison, and Rodin College Houses, as well as the Radian and Mayer Hall, will remain open during winter break. Students who want to remain on campus must register via MyHomeAtPenn and complete a winter break form by Dec. 19 at noon.
Students who live in Du Bois, Gregory, Hill, Kings Court English, Lauder, Fisher, Riepe, Ware, and Stouffer College Houses must complete the same form by Dec. 9. If students receive approval to remain on campus over the break and live in one of the above College Houses, they will receive a relocation assignment by Dec. 16.
Prior to departing campus, all students not remaining over the break must lock their doors, close their windows, leave heat on a low setting, seal and store food items appropriately, and power down appliances. Failure to comply may result in fines beginning at $50.

All mail and packages over winter break will be held in Hill and Harnwell. Packages will be available for pickup in Hill and Harnwell over the break, excluding Christmas and New Year’s Days.
Wellness at Penn will also have reduced hours over winter break, with medical and counseling services offered solely at 3535 Market St. It will be closed on Dec. 21, from Dec. 25-26, Dec. 28, and Jan. 1-4, 2026. Normal hours of operation resume on Jan. 5, 2026. Students may call 215-746-9355 at any time for immediate medical or mental health emergencies.
After finals conclude, Van Pelt-Dietrich Library will be open until 6 p.m. during the weekdays of winter break with the exception of Christmas Day and Jan. 1-2, 2026. Van Pelt will resume normal hours on Jan 14, 2026. Fisher Fine Arts Library will be closed from Dec. 25 to Jan. 4, 2026, as will Holman Biotech Commons.
International Student and Scholar Services closes at 2 p.m. on Dec. 24 and reopens Jan. 5, 2026 at 9 a.m.
Pottruck Health and Fitness Center will be closed on Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1, 2026.
