A Yale student was sent to Yale-New Haven Hospital on Feb. 5 with symptoms of meningitis.
Following the student's hospitalization, a schoolwide email was sent by Director of Yale Health Paul Genecin, in which he informed the community about the probable meningitis case. The email was followed by another on Feb. 8, updating the school on the student's condition.
Though the student's condition has improved, Genecin said precautions are being taken, as the disease can be spread. "These things normally come in clusters," he said, adding that an outbreak was not completely impossible.
A page has been set up on the school's health website warning visitors of "probable bacterial meningitis" on campus, and has also provided a rundown of meningitis symptoms and ways to control it.
