Age does make a difference when it comes to Facebook use in college.
Data collected by Professor of Education at Iowa State University Reynol Junco found that though students that were using Facebook while doing their schoolwork got lower grades, the results were only true for freshmen, sophomores and juniors. For seniors, there was negative correlation between grades and Facebook usage.
Reynol explains that as where freshmen actively use Facebook during college in attempts to maintain the relationships they left behind and try to forge new ones, seniors — long out of high school and already having established social circles in college — used it at much lower rates. He also added that professors shouldn't discourage students from using Facebook, as it is a mean of socialization.
