After winning the all-around at the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships Saturday, Penn sophomore Dana Bonincontri was named ECAC gymnastics Athlete of the Year.

As a team, the Ivy League champion Quakers placed second overall.

Bonincontri placed first in the all-around with a 38.850. Her best score was a 9.800 in the floor exercise, and her highest place was second in the balance beam after posting a 9.775. She was Penn’s highest scorer in all four events.

As a team, the Quakers scored a 191.175, finishing behind a Cornell team they beat three weeks ago at the Ivy Classic. The Big Red had first place finishers in the vault, bars and balance beam en route to 191.675 points.

Penn has not scored lower than 191.125 points in the past five meets.

Freshman Keolamau Yee had the Quakers’ only other top-five event finish, grabbing fourth on the beam with a score of 9.675.

Sophomores Megan Milavec and Kirsten Strausbaugh placed third and fifth, respectively, in the all-around.

Coach John Ceralde could not be reached for comment.

Penn heads next to the NCAA Regionals, which begin on April 1.
