The Fresh Grocer at 40th and Walnut streets closed today due to electrical problems.

Around 1 p.m. the store began experiencing refrigeration problems, which led to other electrical malfunctions, such as cash registers shorting out, according to Assistant Store Manager Dean Stefano.

The store expects to be "open at the latest tomorrow, hopefully tonight," Stefano said. Fresh Grocer is typically open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, including holidays.

Stefano said the store is running shuttle vans from the 40th and Walnut location to another Fresh Grocer at 56th and Chestnut streets. The shuttle is free of charge and will take customers back and forth between the two stores. Customers will also receive a $5 coupon.
