Sports Update | W. Hoops earn first 'W'

It was déj… vu all over again for the Penn women's basketball team, as the difference between a win and a loss was again a single timeout.

Clinging to a two-point lead, Penn forced a missed Navy shot. In the ensuing scramble for the rebound, junior guard Sarah Bucar dived on the loose ball and called a timeout with less than two seconds left.

Unlike in Wednesday's loss to Lafayette, the Quakers had a timeout remaining. In a season filled with close, heartbreaking losses, Penn finally prevailed, 61-58, to push its record to 1-6.

Bucar and senior Carrie Biemer combined for 39 points on 6-for-7 three-point shooting.

The Quakers travel to Hamilton, N.Y., to take on Colgate on Sunday.
