News Brief: Kelly Writers House names spring fellows

The Kelly Writers house chose a number of respected writers and artists as Writers House Fellows for the sprting semester, according to a University press release.

Art Spiegelman, Lynne Sharon Schwartz and Jerome Rothenberg will all visit campus as part of the program.

Spiegelman, best known for his Pulitzer-winning graphic novel Maus and his cartoons for The New Yorker, will come to campus from Feb. 18 to 19.

He addressed campus earlier as part of the Penn Humanities Forum in September 2005

Meanwhile, Lynne Sharon Schwartz, the author of books such as The Fatigue Artist and translator of the novel Smoke Over Birkenau, will visit Penn from March 24 to 25.

Finally, poet Jerome Rothenberg is slated to come April 28 to 29.

Each of the fellows will give a 6:30 p.m. reading at the Writers House, followed by a 10 a.m. conversation the next day that will be broadcast over the Internet.
