Spring Fling directors announced yesterday that just over 500 of the 2,000 available guest passes have been sold, about the same number that had been sold at this time last year.
Engineering junior and Spring Fling co-director Lindsay Motlin said she does not expect a spike in guest pass sales due to the April 13 Ben Folds/Third Eye Blind concert.
"Based on the sales that we've made so far, we think that we'll probably sell about the same number [of passes] that we did last year," Motlin said.
Last year, the Spring Fling committee sold 1,800 guest passes.
Motlin also said the transition to the new system of issuing guest passes - by which students register online and then bring a signed copy of the rules and regulations of Fling to the Office of Student Life to pick up guest passes - has been smooth so far. She added that it is making the line for passes go much more quickly.
Passes can be bought for $20 this year by registering online at www.specevents.net. There is a limit of 2 passes per person.
Prior to 2005 the passes cost $10 each, but the cost was raised to make up for the high price of hiring security.
